Lazy or insufficiently skilled?

A paper which calls out colleagues for shallow or inadequate application of methodology is bound to grab attention.

And so it is that an interesting paper published last week is bound to attract substantial attention when its title asks whether higher education scholars are ‘lazy or insufficiently skilled’ in relation to the methodology that they deploy in researching higher education.

The paper suggests that greater rigour is required when scholars explore the mysteries of the sector, although the writer is sufficiently self aware to note limitations with the methodology he used to criticise the methodology of others.

Aside from these torturous considerations, the paper is a thoughtful analysis which could point to improved sector analysis and insights.
