The newly re-established Administrative Review Council announces members, including, chair Margaret Allars (Uni Sydney), Matthew Groves (Deakin U) and CQU chancellor Graeme Innes. The council “monitors and advises on the federal administrative law system.” It was abolished by the previous coalition government in the 2015-16 Budget.

Jennifer Barrett (Uni Sydney) joins the council of the State Library of NSW.

Adam Bignold was named Australia’s best Vocational Education and Training (VET) teacher at the 2024 Australian Training Awards.

Outgoing chief scientist Cathy Foley is appointed to the Australian Museum Trust.

Jobs and Skills Australia Commissioner Barney Glover becomes a trustee of the NSW Museum of Applied Arts and Sciences (better known as the Powerhouse).

John McVeigh becomes Uni Southern Queensland Chancellor. He moves from appointments at the university and was previously the LNP member for the local Federal seat of Groom and a cabinet member in the 2017-18 Turnbull ministry.

At ANU Philip Pettit receives the Peter Baume Award. “His work has shaped not just philosophy but also real-world politics.” the university announces. According to Google Scholar Professor Pettit has an H-Index of 101 which places him with John Rawls, Jurgen Habermas and Judith Butler.

Trevor Riley will become chancellor of Charles Darwin University, in July. He is a law school professorial fellow and a former chief justice of the Supreme Court of the Northern Territory.
