Job Description

Avondale University is seeking a Library Technician (Circulation) to join the library team on a full-time continuing basis.

This exciting role will have you managing, with the support of a team of student assistants, all aspects of circulation in the library as well as Educational Information Technology. It will also assist with the delivery of training programs, support/troubleshooting of patrons, networked applications, and operation of Library Management System. Additionally, this role will ensure the consistency of service through efficient operation of various technological applications used across the library service including Audio Visual.

What will you do?

Some of the main duties will include:

Manage all Circulation Services for Lake Macquarie Campus Library:
Manage and maintain all print collections (Reserve, stocktake, weeding)
Memberships, fines, intercampus loans
Provide statistics and reports on departmental activities as required,
Library management system – to act as the liaison between FE Technologies and Ex Libris
Oversee equipment (STEM), room bookings, roster and calendar maintenance
Manage a small team of student workers
Oversee security and facilities maintenance of the Library building
Develop promotional materials when required

Essential criteria

Library Technician qualification having completed a course of study recognized by ALIA for professional membership,
High level of proficiency in a broad range of library routines, ability to identify problems or needs and propose solutions
Knowledge of computer applications such as Microsoft Office Suite, cloud based library applications, and Library Management Software. (ALMA)
High level of digital literacy skills,
Effective interpersonal and communication skills,
Effective organisational and time management skills,
Ability to act with initiative,
Ability to be flexible when dealing with situations that arise in the library,
Cooperate with all work health & safety policies and procedures related to the work being undertaken and ensure that their actions or omissions do not impact on the health and safety of others at Avondale. Promote a safe work place and identify unsafe practices,

Salary: Avondale Higher Education Worker Level 4 $62,935 – $66,117 per annum, plus superannuation.
