We are seeking a highly motivated candidate to take up the role of Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Discipline of Civil and Environmental Engineering and Surveying within the School of Engineering at the University of Newcastle. The Discipline is highly research active, contributing substantially to the overall research inputs and outputs of the School of Engineering.
This position will provide the opportunity to work in satellite altimetry, with particular application to the marine gravity field and bathymetry, alongside Associate Professor Xiaoli Deng. The project is funded by the Australian Research Council through a grant on “Enhancing Marine Bathymetry Using New Generation Satellite Sensors”, involving collaboration with colleagues at University of Tasmania and the National Space Institute at the Technical University of Denmark. The work will develop computationally efficient techniques for constructing the marine gravity field and bathymetric model and estimating their uncertainties by using data from the new generation SWOT (Surface Water and Ocean Topography) and multi-satellite altimeter missions.
The successful candidate will work within a collaborative environment as part of an international and interdisciplinary research team.

The remuneration for this position is from $91,350 + 17% superannuation.
