Stephen Garton (Uni Sydney) becomes president of the Australian Academy of the Humanities.

Jill Hennessy is appointed chair of the Australian Association of Social Workers Accreditation Council. Ms Hennessy is a professorial fellow at Monash U and a former attorney general of Victoria.

Alistair Hicks (Monash U) joins the board of BioCurate (“translating Australian medical research and delivering health and economic benefits to the world”).

Former High Commissioner to India Barry O’Farrell joins Uni Sydney to advise the vice chancellor on “education, research and diplomatic endeavours with India, the sub-continent and beyond.”

Margaret O’Rourke becomes head of campus at La Trobe U, Bendigo. She is a present councillor and former mayor of the city.

Sharath Sriram (RMIT) begins his two-year term as president of Science and Technology Australia.
