Harvard University is the latest US institution to mount a lawsuit against the Trump Administration after a freeze on Federal Funding.
The US President has halted more than $US2.2 billion (A$3.4 billion) in funding for the world’s top-ranked university after it refused to comply with his demands to eliminate diversity, equity and inclusion policies and practices and take new approaches to antisemitism.
Harvard has rejected President Trump’s interventions, saying the institution has already acted to address antisemitism and will not relinquish its commitment to diversity. It is suing the US Government, seeking a resumption of funding, on the basis that the freeze is unlawful.
In an extraordinary attack last week, President Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform that “Harvard can no longer be considered even a decent place of learning, and should not be considered on any list of the World’s Great Universities or Colleges.
“Harvard is a joke, teaches hate and stupidity, and should no longer receive federal funds.”
