HE FEST Workshop: Visual Storytelling Masterclass

Neil Bennett has captured unforgettable moments across television, stage and screen – from the sets of Doctor Who to the beloved cult classic Gavin and Stacey. His award-winning work for Monash University led to senior leadership roles, including Director of Photography at the Adelaide Advertiser, Head of Photography at AAP and ultimately Head of Visual Storytelling at News Corp Australia.

Now an independent freelance photographer, Neil specialises in creating high-impact imagery for leading brands. His work was recently shortlisted for the prestigious National Photographic Portrait Prize 2025, with his striking portrait of classical didgeridoo virtuoso William Barton (above). This year, he also serves as a judge for the acclaimed Sony Alpha Awards.

Neil will team up with Future Campus Publisher Tim Winkler in a workshop called Image isn't everything – but it can be. The workshop will be a hands-on guide to improved marketing and visual communication, with the opportunity to review your images and provide practical insights on how to improve engagement and impact through commissioning, planning, capturing, selecting and presenting images that can redefine brands and transform impact.

At a time when cheap images have become easier to access than ever, creative visual storytelling has never been more important to cut through the clutter.

Don't miss this exclusive workshop with Neil Bennett following the HE FEST conference on 19 September at Deakin University's Downtown campus.
