The Australasian College of Road Safety’s 2025 awards include, Joanne Bennett (Australian Catholic U) and Stuart Newstead (Monash U).
Leisa Bacon is appointed Chief Marketing Officer of QUT, joining from Creative Australia. Ms Bacon has worked in marketing sphere for more than 25 years, including a decade as National Audience Director for the ABC. Lara McKay was appointed VP Engagement and CMO at QUT in May 2024 and has now relinquished the latter title to Ms Bacon.
Luke Carman is the Judy Harris Writer in Residence at Uni Sydney. He will work on a novel “examining the intersections between mental health, social disconnection, and the search for meaning in contemporary life.”
ANU’s Susanne von Caemmerer and Graham Farquhar have collected their Royal Medal (Biological) from the Royal Society as in the original one, established in 1660 and “the oldest scientific academy in continuing existence.
Michelle King has been appointed RMIT’s inaugural Vice-President Engagement, after years of consulting with KPMG, while Professor Catherine Itsiopoulos has been appointed DVC STEM College, after acting in the role since November last year.
Lan Snell starts next month as Swinburne ED of Business, Law and entrepreneurship. She moves from Uni South Australia.
