Monash has created a new pathway in Cambodia, announcing a new partnership with BELTEI International University to deliver a foundation program.
The Monash College program provides foundation graduates from the Phnom Penh program with direct access to undergraduate programs in Malaysia, Indonesia, or, visa permitting, Australia. The move is significant, given Government limitations on international numbers, as universities offer vertically-integrated TNE programs enabling students to earn Australian qualifications through multiple international campuses.
The announcement was made by Fabian Marrone, who is now Vice-President of Marketing, Admissions and Communications at Monash University and CEO of Monash College (and surely the only sector leader rivalling Barney Glover for longest title on a business card).
Cambodian commencements had risen 107% across Monash uni and college campuses over the past five years and with the Deputy PM as an alumni, Monash is expecting the new program to be popular.
"It underscores a shared commitment and focus by Monash, and Australian and Cambodian Governments for education to drive growth, positive social change and impact in Cambodia, and enhance the cultural and academic contribution of Cambodians in Australia," Mr Marrone said.
The new partnership aligns with the Albanese Government's policy focus on growing Australian education offshore, as domestic enrolments contract and onshore international enrolments are squeezed.
