Mandatory Teaching Quals Still On Agenda

Concerns over the quality of higher education delivery and recent amendments to the Higher Education Standards have kept alive speculation that the Government may seek to make teaching qualifications mandatory for university academic staff.

The peak humanities lobby has demanded the breadth of university research be protected as it seeks to defend its members’ jobs, in a submission to the ATEC inquiry on reducing the research capacity of some universities.
