The Cost of Living crisis is clearly set to impact domestic enrolments for next year, with UAC reporting a 35% rise in equity scholarships.
Interim Managing Director of UAC Kim Paino said they had received more than 4,500 applications for equity scholarships so far, as students seek financial support to study.
“With rising cost-of-living pressures, it’s more important than ever for students who are doing it tough financially to access the kinds of support that will help them pursue and remain in university study,” Ms Paino said.
So far, 450 equity scholarships have already been awarded, prior to the main rounds of scholarships which will be released in alignment with offers for Year 12 students.
Year 12 results will be released on 11 December in Queensland, 12 December in Victoria, 16 December in WA, SA and NT and 18 December for students in NSW, ACT and Tasmania. Stand by for rolling coverage of high achievers, with a solid week of results reveal social media videos and gee-whiz genius profiles set to occupy the national media cycle in the traditional toenail-deep coverage of school leaver results.
The real work begins from results day for recruitment and admissions teams, with high competition for students expected to result in ATAR cuts and intense activity to hook in students right into March 25.
