RMIT Invests $30M in Health Capability

RMIT University will invest $30 million to upgrade health infrastructure this year, mostly at its Bundoora campus in Melbourne’s north.

The investment will upgrade infrastructure, buy new equipment and improve access to simulated training environments. It will also support applied research in medical technology, digital health, food innovation and public health.

In line with the University’s long-standing status as a dual-sector institution, the new facilities will be used by many of the 7,000 students RMIT enrols across HE and TAFE programs.

“Our Bundoora campus is an important connector between the University and Melbourne’s culturally diverse and rapidly expanding Northern Corridor, an area of over 620,000 residents which experiences complex health challenges and difficulty in accessing health services,” RMIT Vice-Chancellor Alec Cameron said.

“This investment underlines RMIT’s commitment in health to provide high quality education for our students, so they can make a positive impact in the communities they will go on to work within.”

The university will continue to invest in programs aligned with workforce demands, and build partnerships with the health sector to expand collaboration, placement and graduate opportunities.
