Graeme Clark (Uni Melbourne) is a joint winner of this year’s Honda Prize, for his work on creating the cochlear implant. He shares the award with Austrian engineer Ingeborg Hochmair who came up with the idea independently.

Rohan Howitt (Monash U) wins the Australian History Prize in the Prime Minister’s Literary Awards for, The Southern Frontier: Australia, Antarctica and Empire in the Southern Ocean World, (Melbourne University Publishing).
