La Trobe University has launched an AI Business Studio, aiming to connect more than 1,000 small and medium sized businesses with AI over the next two years.
A pilot program for the project will commence this month, with business students undergoing an AI Boot Camp and then scoping and undertaking a program with a partner SME over 10 weeks as part of their course.
The university aims to open the program to students from all Faculties once the pilot is complete, linking students with SMEs to work on a defined range of AI implementation projects.
Companies will not have to pay for the work of their student helpers. Students will get credit recognition for their participation.
The program provides hands-on experience for students in rolling out basic AI solutions across a range of small businesses, with more complex challenges referred out to other teams.
